What version of linux should i get if i'm a first time user?

I have a Macbook Pro and was wondering if i could try linux and still keep Mac OS X 10.4. What should I do and is it possible to have multiple OS's on a single hard drive?

What version of linux should i get if i'm a first time user?
Download Ubuntu Linux. As with all Linux distros, it is free, but this one is particularly user friendly and has a LiveCD which you can use to try it without actually installing it (run the OS off the CD).
Reply:Mandrake Linux is the best. I have Mandrake Linux 10.1 installed on my PC along with Vista ultimate, and Server 2008 beta 3. But Mandrake Linux is the best of them all, in my opinion!
Reply:Ubuntu, It does allow duel boot

I have never ran linux on a macbook since I have not owned one. I currently have a macpro desktop, but have three harddrives. I run windows, linux and osx for various purposes. Mostly I use linux because I am a dork and have been messing around with it since before I can remember.

Check out beryl when you have everything running..
